Welcome to the Alaska ARES website. The website is designed as a resource for amateur radio operators and emergency management agencies to bring resources together throughout Alaska in times of Emergency when all else fails.
Amateur Radio Emergency Services is dedicated to amateur radio as it pertains to disaster services. The history of amateur radio operators' involvement in sending life-saving information in and out of disaster areas and providing help during and after earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. “HAM’ radio has been there to assist local, state, and federal agencies and relief organizations such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Aviation Administration, Civil Air Patrol, National Weather Service and many others.
Due to the geographic size of Alaska, communication systems can be difficult to maintain. Amateur radio operators are located throughout Alaska.
